What are overlays?

Overlays are modern ceramic restorations for posterior teeth, used in cases of severely damaged teeth. With a thickness of approximately 1 mm, overlays allow for minimal tooth reduction and preservation of healthy dental tissues. They are fabricated by a dental technician who, through precise techniques and technologies, guarantees their strength and long-term durability.

The bonding of overlays is performed using a special protocol that creates a strong bond with the natural dental tissues and ensures long-term stability of the restoration.

In modern dentistry, overlays are preferred as an alternative to traditional crowns because they do not require aggressive tooth reduction. The use of digital planning and fabrication methods, magnification loupes and microscopes, as well as isolation during cementation, guarantees a lifelong result from overlay treatment.

A precise solution for damaged teeth without aggressive tooth reduction.

1. Digital design and diagnostics

Treatment begins with digital design and evaluation of your bite and teeth. Using an intraoral scanner, we create an accurate digital model of your smile in order to plan the ideal shape and function of the overlays.

2. Caries removal and tooth preparation

The teeth are prepared by removing caries and old fillings. The tooth is partially rebuilt with composite resin and shaped in a minimally invasive manner. During the process, we perform detailed photographic documentation, which will assist in the fabrication of the overlays.

3. Fabrication of the overlays

After tooth preparation, the digital impression file is sent to the dental laboratory, where the ceramic overlays are fabricated according to the predefined design. This process ensures precision and excellent fit.

4. Try-in and final adaptation

During this visit, the overlays are tried in to check their accuracy and adaptation to the teeth. If everything is perfect, bonding is performed.

5. Bonding of the overlays

The overlays are fixed to the teeth using a special protocol that ensures strength and durability. During the procedure, a rubber dam is used for isolation from moisture and contamination, which further guarantees the longevity of the restoration.

6. Final polishing and control

After bonding, final polishing is performed to give the overlays shine and a natural appearance. A final bite check is carried out to ensure everything is in complete harmony.

Quality guarantee

We provide an official 3-year guarantee for the restorations fabricated by us, with the goal that they remain in the mouth for a lifetime. We sign a contract for the performance of dental services, which serves as an additional guarantee of service quality. The price does not change during treatment, even if additional procedures arise; they are at our expense.

Преди

BEFORE: A case of a female patient who came with the intention of replacing her old fillings. During the examination, however, we found that beneath the old fillings the teeth were severely damaged, with very little healthy tooth structure remaining. In order to avoid aggressive tooth reduction for crowns, we undertook restoration with minimally invasive restorations – overlays.

След

AFTER: Overlays are thin ceramic restorations that cover only the missing or damaged parts of the tooth, preserving as much of the natural structure as possible. In this way, we achieved long-lasting and aesthetic results while maintaining tooth strength and satisfying the patient.

Преди

BEFORE: A case of a female patient around 60 years of age who, despite frequent visits to the dentist, had multiple damaged teeth. After a thorough examination, we undertook restoration of all posterior teeth with overlays – thin ceramic restorations.

След

AFTER: This minimally invasive method allowed us to preserve the healthy tooth structure while avoiding complete tooth reduction for crowns.

Преди

BEFORE: A case of a female patient with severely damaged lower posterior teeth. Two of these teeth already had crowns placed, which needed to be replaced. We restored these teeth with new crowns, ensuring strength and stability.

След

AFTER: For the remaining damaged teeth, we undertook a minimally invasive approach with overlays – thin ceramic restorations that cover only the missing or damaged parts of the teeth. This method allowed us to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible while ensuring long-term durability and protection of the teeth. The patient is satisfied with the result and the restored function of the bite.

Contact us

Will it hurt?

Every procedure with us is performed under anesthesia in order to ensure a comfortable experience for the patient.

Do we work with supplementary health funds?

Yes, we work with supplementary health funds. We issue all necessary documents, such as invoices, medical reports, and others required by the funds. In addition, we work with health funds abroad, providing the same level of documentation and service.

Do we work with the national health insurance fund?

The national health insurance fund limits dentists to working only with amalgam and chemical polymer materials (i.e., materials that do not allow for high-quality tooth restoration), and also determines the time allocated for each procedure. We do not work with the national health insurance fund because we maintain high standards of work, and high-quality reconstruction of a tooth sometimes takes 90 minutes.

What payment methods are available?

With us, you have several convenient payment options. We accept cash payments, credit and debit cards, as well as bank transfers. This allows you to choose the most convenient payment method for you.

Do we take X-rays?

Yes, in our clinic we take X-rays – of individual teeth, as well as those that diagnose early-stage caries between teeth.

Can we issue invoices?

Yes, we issue invoices to both individuals and companies. Regardless of the type of client, we provide the necessary documentation for the performed services.

How often should a preventive check-up and tartar cleaning be done?

A preventive check-up should be carried out every 6 months for each person. Tartar cleaning depends on the individual problems of the patient and the rate of tartar accumulation. Therefore, cleaning can be done at intervals of 2, 4, 6, or 8 months.

Do we have our own parking?

Yes, the clinic has its own parking available for patients. The parking is located in the courtyard behind the clinic building.

Can a tooth not hurt and still have a problem?

Yes, very often a tooth can have a problem without causing pain. Our patients are often surprised to learn that they have dental problems despite not having experienced pain. Many oral conditions, including gum disease, bone loss beneath the gums (periodontitis), caries, even advanced caries reaching the nerve and requiring root canal treatment, as well as granulomas and cysts around the roots of teeth, can be asymptomatic. That is why it is important to have preventive check-ups every 6 months to prevent tooth loss and maintain good oral health.
